Harry Chapin: I Wanna Learn A Love Song - A New Musical Uniondale Theatre reviews
can't say enough
We attended this concert, my sister and I. The perfect seats, front row at the mid point of the venue in the first tier of the raised seats, made us feel like we had plenty of leg room. Even if everyone on the floor was standing, we could remain seated and see everything (Sorry we are older and weren't able to stand for three hours.) The visuals included the words to all the songs for both Crowder and Harry Chapin: I Wanna Learn A Love Song - A New Musical, which I really liked. It added to our experience to have this going on as I love both of their music but don't always know all the words to the songs. I love that the musicians took the time to speak with the audience, making us feel as though we were a very personal part of it for them as well. Doing the "Happy Dance" for a long time to come, we will be.
The Who Rocked D.C.
I Wanna Learn A Love Song - A New Musical by Harry Chapin provided a fantastic show for a diverse audience, showcasing outstanding performances by the orchestra and band, with a setlist spanning from Tommy in 1969 to Who in 2026. The band delivered six songs from Tommy, three from Who's Next, and five from Quadrophenia. The setlist also included The Seeker, Relay, and Join Together, songs that were initially unreleased but later included in compilation albums. The band opted for the electric version of Won't Get Fooled Again, ditching the acoustic one from their 2026 U.S. tour.
Unexpectedly, You Better, You Bet from Face Dances in 1981 received a significant response from the audience, although Athena from It's Hard in 1982 would have been a preferred choice for a pop tune. Lead vocalist Roger Daltrey's voice remained powerful, showcasing impressive vocal flexibility for a 78-year-old rock veteran. Lead guitarist Pete Townsend delivered captivating solos with his signature windmill style, providing visual excitement for the crowd. Drummer Zack Starkey proved himself as a great addition to The Who since 1996.
In conclusion, Harry Chapin: I Wanna Learn A Love Song - A New Musical offered an excellent performance in D.C., featuring a talented band, both longstanding members and hired professionals, with a solid setlist that pleased the audience.
